What is CBD?

CBD is cannabidiol; one of almost 200 cannabinoids that can be found in marijuana plants. It’s extracted from marijuana plants and from hemp. It’s an extremely close chemical cousin of tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC (which you might be familiar with). The two chemicals are separated by a single atom. But, despite being nearly identical, there’s an important difference between the two. CBD is not psychoactive like THC is. In layman’s terms? THC gets you high, while CBD does not (and cannot).

CBD helps the body process serotonin (known as the “happy chemical”) by targeting a serotonin receptor called 5-HT1A, and increasing access to serotonin in your brain.
